Red Sox 2012 Opening Day is April 13. To kick off the season, the Red Sox will celebrate by introducing players new and old, officially leaving the 2011 season behind and looking forward to another, more successful attempt at a World Series title in 2012.
April 19-20 is when Fenway Park will officially celebrate its 100 years. On the 19, the Red Sox are offering fans a free opportunity to tour the ballpark. Fans can look forward to exploring the ballpark, looking at historic pictures and items, and meeting past and current players from their favorite team.
The next day, on the birthday of Fenway, the Red Sox will play their biggest rival, the New York Yankees. April 20 marks exactly 100 years since the Sox played the then New York Highlanders, wearing the same 1912 uniforms.
May 2nd is Throwback Day for the Sox when they’ll play the Oakland Athletics. The 100th Anniversary is a special time for players, fans, and all members of Red Sox Nation to honor the historic team’s accomplishments and the glory of America’s most beloved ballpark.
